SAAFON’ s higher calling is to seek the liberation and empowerment of Black people through agricultural, food, and land-based strategies

We recognize, honor and uplift the ways of our ancestors

The SAAFON network allows our members to connect with like – minded farmers, to build collective power in order to achieve our visions of land-based success, and to model alternative ways of living in the 21st century.

We promote agricultural production and land management practices that are rooted in indigenous ways of knowing that span geographies, space and time. We recognize, honor and uplift the ways of our ancestors and ask for their guidance as we show how Black agrarianism offers solutions to some of the most pressing challenges of our communities.

The SAAFON network allows our members to connect with like – minded farmers, to build collective power in order to achieve our visions of land-based success, and to model alternative ways of living in the 21st century.

We have a 3 – tiered approach to our work that is farmer led and farmer centric

1. Work With Farmers
We work individually with farmers to understand their individual needs, and empower them to take leadership in a collaborative process of identifying and defining solutions to enhance their work.

2. Activate Connections
We activate connection among farmers in our network in order to build collective power and address issues that affect groups of farmers, while supporting the creation of group-led initiatives.

3. System Change & Movement Building
We focus on systems change and movement building by doing work at the food system level and partnering with other organizations to make an impact.
